Nice job on the shapes of the face and shadows. I'd raise the contrast between lights and darks a bit though, some of the details get lost because the shading is too close in color to the main skin tones. Maybe add a few highlights too, that'll really make it "pop".
The highlights and transparency around the face make this image very lifelike and accurate. The only suggestion I might make is that the face have more shadows involved in it.

The hair is interesting playing with the background peeking in from the right. The background itself is very bold and complements the vast amount of light reflected on the face.
This course will develop & hone student's skills in working with image & text as they create solutions to a series of design problems. Visual literacy will be increased through exposure to contemporary design issues & graphic design history. Students will expand their proficiency in all aspects of the design process, including creative brainstorming, conceptualizing, critical thinking, collaboration & presentation. Students will create work by hand but predominantly in digital form with industry standard programs as in Adobe's Creative Suite.
